  Can a pharmacy technician recommend a herbal cough syrup?

  No I do not think R. Ph. T. can recomend any therapeutic

    Yes, he can not recommend any medication even if it is herbal medicine. The therapeutic issues and decisions are restricted to the pharmacist.

  Even for OTC drugs and multivitamins ?

    Any therapeutic issue is for the pharmacist. Technician can read the information of any product but he can not say this drug is suitable for this specific patient. This is a therapeutic decision which is reserved for the pharmacist

  I think he can not , because it is considered as a new drug and needs counselling by the pharmacist

  No, a pharmacy tech is not allowed to counsel drugs .
